Sara Lee of Marquette Michigan announced today on the local TV station WLUC-TV that it is closing June 27th.They did not notify all of their employees. We had to learn we are losing our jobs through the news. That is so typical of a company that has bullied, demeaned and treated its employees like they were worthless. more...

Not sure why your unemployment compensation was denied? Fight back and do it now. File an appeal. When someone files for unemployment, an employer can delay or stop the former employee's receipt of unemployment benefits with as little as a phone call or fax. All they need to do is to claim the employee was terminated with cause. No one at the state will demand proof on your behalf. In Florida, where only 1/3 of the working population even qualifies for unemployment compensation, the commissioners who hear unemployment appeals are going out to tell employers how to game the system and deny benefits.

Friends,

To report any suspicious activity or to make a confidential reporting of immigration or customs violations, please call 1-866-DHS-2-ICE (1-866-347-2423).

Please make the call. This is the right time to make the call. These days immigrations dept. is raiding companies for illegal activities.

Remember the 5 firms that ICE raided in regards to H1B visa fraud last week. 11 of them are under arrest and they may serve up to 15 to 20 years of prison time.

Its not just the employer who is breaking the law, employees are supporting them too. As far as L1 visa interview goes, they know from the forum what questions they are asked and they know what to answer even if it is not the right answer.

For L1 visa they have to say they are working on a proprietary tool and have specialized skills to get the visa even if they don?t have those skills. This is fraud and they need to go to jail.

Remember the only way to stop these guys is by putting not 11 but atleast 1100 in jail. They can afford to pay as mush fine as required without any issues and still continue the same old unethical practice. It?s only the jail time that they are scared off and which will make them stop.

So guys if you are suspicious of any illegal activities on H1 or L1 please call ICE. You can call from public phone and don?t have to reveal your identity.

Please make the call. For those you already have a job, you may be the next one to get fired.

Please spread the word and let your friends, family, relatives know about this. Email this content to everybody that you know.

Please help.

I have been doing an internship at a small company in San Jose -- makes developer tools. Small start up that I was interning at for almost no money at all -- hey I thought I was volunteering -- and they laid me off last week. What crap -- here I was just learning and not taking any money and they are so desperate they let me and the other intern go! more...

In January, one of our folks that was laid off talked to one of our remaining crew (who happened to be laid off today!) Gracie said her life was much better now, that she was collecting unemployment, and was cleaning 5 houses for cash under the table. Instead of working 50+ hours a week, she now gets to see her husband on a regular basis and their relationship is thriving, where before it had been really rough because of her hours. My point is, it may suck in the short term if all we're looking at is " what am I going to DO??" but if you remain flexible in your mind, stay positive, it can work out alright. Keep a broad focus, and remember that work isn't everything, it just pays the bills, and you can't get blood out of a turnip... more...

I am in media -- pretty ruthless industry -- so feel good about a severance package of 8 weeks -- I was expecting 4 based on what my firiends at other companies got. Guess they had to let me go for financial reasons -- would rather be out now and get another job before their fully collapse. more...

You are all right because the layoff are happening so abruptly that sometimes people leave without finishing the task or properly handing it over to the next in charge. You hear that so and so is going to be laid off and the next thing; you see lots of emails saying goodbye to that person. The communication lines are all severed instantly and the poor laid off employee is completely denied all access even before they have had the time to gather their stuff. It is sad and making the current employees resentful and anxious. more...

They laid off about 13 people at DRAPE KINGS in North Bergen, NJ. My boyfriend was one of them. It was probably because the owner had to cover the cost of his idiot son's salary, his son's apartment and his son's girlfiend who also works there. Stick a fork in that place--they're almost done.
