Jobs go to China and Mexico because we refuse to do the job for a decent pay (not outlandinsh and need a bonus cause we got it done pay!). I thought if your boss told you to do a job you did it. I worked at a company that everyone moaned and groaned and did not like change, was not gonna do it, so jobs got outsourced. Whose fault was that when layoffs came? more...

After being a dedicated employee of almost 20 years for an automotive parts company in central Illinois--they announced that they are closing their operations in the Unites States by mid 2009. Those jobs will be placed in China and Mexico. I was with this company for 5 years before I ever applied for a FMLA. I have had four children since starting with this company and gone through a divorce. I needed that income. It's just a shame that they can outsource those jobs. This economy has gotten so many people! I currently go to school full time while getting my unemployment benefits--although for the first time in my life I have had to apply for food stamps and we no longer have health insurance. It's a drastic drop in income and I can only hope that I can finish school and go on to a better job for my sons and I! more...

America is not only facing a fiscal crisis, but many -- global warming, wars, trade imbalances. What has happened to our country? The economy is in shambles so what else can they do but layoffs? I feel really bad for those who had to leave without a clue. Hopefully the economy turns around before more layoffs occur; it is always saddening to hear stories of families out of work. more...

Got laid off i n December from a PR Agency - and no matter how hard I am at it - have not been able to land. Know what I am dreading -- have to move out of my Silicon Valley apt, as I just don't wanna pay this high rent. Choices -- move in with a friend or move back home with my parents in the Midwest to ride out this tsunami?? What are other folks doing more...

CGI has moved my job to India and now they want me to dissappear without compensation. By placing folks on temporary layoff for up to 35 weeks the hopes is that we quit. This is just dirty. 130+ are impacted.

Its not about money.. at least that is what I was told when my General Manager told me my position at the hotel was going to change to a seasonal one-from May through Oct.-

I had been with that hotel for 21years. Tough industry-luxury/high end resorts. Survived several ownership and management changes-couldn't survive this one. But why not be straight with ppl and not sugarcoat things. I was by far not the only one at that hotel. Layoffs, reduction in hours, "restructuring" is always about money--i hope with the financial crisis we all face-I hope this results in a mass shift in priorities-its time that payscales across the board be raised dramatically-its one reason I think we are in this positon-for years the cost of everything has gone up- ppls. incomes have not-we can't afford the Amercan dream anymore.

The American Dream needs to change-lets get back to what matters instead of the shallow, material driven society we have become. more...

First off-if the $10.00 per hour jobs were in keeping with the rise in inflation the last 20 yrs many ppl would be a lot better off-- And-the huge housing debacle has also happened because of greed. maybe this is the industry you are in--one of "get mine" before its gone-there is a hell of a lot more to life than money.

GReed on the part of bankers, brokers, real estate agents trying to cash in and get that promotion, that bonus, that first million-most ppl accepting crappy mortgage terms were just trying to buy a piece of the American Dream-something that has been rammed down our throats for years--easy credit, don't pay until next year--come on you can afford it--

One more thing --in this financial crisis-even well educated ppl are losing their jobs-this one knows no educational or social boundaries more...

Over the past 12 months, the number of unemployed people has increased by 4.1 million, and the unemployment rate has risen by 2.7 percentage points. To make the scene worse we are all faced with rising expenses, declining home values & high mortgage payments.

When my friend lost his job & was struggling to make his mortgage payments, we brainstormed and came up with a cool way to earn some money on his property. This is not a replacement to his job, but it gave him less sleepless nights because it took care of his mortgages.

There is always a way to improve your situation. Dont give up & be positive. Something better will come along if you just believe in it. I can tell you how my friend did this, and you an do the same too. If you own a house or a holiday home & are struggling to pay mortgages, this will help you.
