I typically really enjoy the people I work with. We are all well educated, smart, and motivated. Since it is global, you have a major impact on people thoughout the world. The benefits package is really good and we have the opportunity for professional growth at this company, which is important to me. It is a company that allows you personal freedom while still providing a place to learn and grow.

It is beyond doubts and exaggeration that we get to enjoy working here a lot but we get tensed whenever layoff rounds are announced

layoffs

The union gets a list for the company with a date on it. The union cross references this date, draws a line on the seniority list and everyone down the list gets a 60 day notice and eventually gets laid off. Then the process starts over again, until the company feels they are stable, again.
For salaried folks, its about ratings, nepotism and favoritism as one alluded too.
Is it fair? Not for union folks. I have seen good people getting laid off, why POS at the top sit there, do not do shit and end up not getting laid off, because of hight seniority. I wanted this union to recognize performance, but Nooooo..they don't want to hear that. Union want POS to thrive.
The Company is no different. Surely the company is not going to layoff its own brother-in-law, or aunt.

Recent Layoff Tells/Reviews on Boeing

This is a fact.

Thursday, December 23, 2004 was a date to remember for me.

We received one day layoff notice on the day before CHRISTMAS EVE by "THE BOEING COMPANY" in Huntsville, Alabama.

December 23, 2004 was the layoff date for a group of Boeing contractors working on ______ ______ ______ program. We received one day notice of layoff the day before Christmas Eve. Approximately 25 employees were called in to the conference room that morning on December 23, 2004. We were told that they lost the budget for the coming 2005 year. Employees were told to pack their stuff from their desk and not to return to work after the Christmas holiday. What a Christmas to remember for that small group of engineers, designers and technical specialist. I remember driving home from work that day thinking, what am I going to tell my wife and children. The Christmas presents are under the tree and it was CHRISTMAS EVE... no one should be treated that way. Thank goodness everything worked out well for me and I was blessed to have another job within two weeks. As far as we know, none of the local news media ever reported a news article on the Christmas Eve layoff by "THE BOEING COMPANY" in Huntsville, Alabama.
On a positive note, we were thanked for the good work that had been completed. Later, I received several emails congratulating me on the good work on my part of the project.
