My boss

I am honestly regreting to say that I actually quit working at the Dollar Tree because of the pathetic excuse for a manager I had. She was extremely rude to customers and the employe's. After an incident where she called me a liar at the top of her lungs, screaming at me in front of a customer, I wrote her a nasty note saying that I would not return. A few weeks later, I knew her car wasn't there, and I got along perfectly fine with everyone else, it was just her that I couldn't stand, I went in to pick up some things being as the Dollar Tree really is a great store. When I went in, the assistant manager alerted me that I needed my paycheck. I knew it wasn't because it was already direct deposited, but none the less, I followed to retrieve it. While handing me the envelope, the assistant manager said, and these are her exact words:
"(Name of manager) said that if you wouldn't have came in to pick that up, she was going to throw it away."
That is illegal and she belongs in jail...definatley not the Dollar Tree. I can't stand her or the way she treated anyone!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately these things do happen. They are hard to correct unless one takes the time to actually talk to a dist manager or above. Maybe a sit down with all of you would of cleared the air. Walmart is great at this type of treatment, they train their assistant's to treat employees that way to, but with this store you have no option, as that is the mentality of the employer employee relationships within all wal-marts

I've worked at Dollar Tree for a few years. It was fun and great for the first few years. Family oriented, clean fun while working, low pay was not a reason to leave because I enjoyed my job. Within the past year drastic changes have happened. New management, new rules, stupid politics, unrealistic expectations, continuous threats of firing. Very stressful work environment. Not family friendly. Not allowed to have friendships with anyone you work with. When you walk out the door you co-workers must cease to exist for you. The pay is too low to make it worthwhile to put up with the crap that goes on. Unfortunately, jobs are few so here I sit trying to keep jumping through the hoops that get higher and smaller all the time. Can climb the ladder if you're really good at kissing ass.

You know yesterday I went into the Dollar store in Sunnyvale, CA and there was a man who was yelling rudely at his workers. I know they are working "minimum" but don't treat them like they aren't a human being! This man should be fired!

I called after I left this comment and I asked whomever answered the phone who that man was, and guess who it was? Their District Manager!!!! This man needs to learn how to be a man in his profession and treat them like people! How can I report this man!?!?

the assistant manager at the one I worked at would purposely make derogatory remarks to me and about me to customers, I should have walked the hell out of there a lot sooner than i did. I hope the jerk gets busted for smoking in the back room and the bathroom. it just was NOT worth the 7 lousy dollars an hour to work there. Since i left though, their business has pretty much tanked, i hope the place closes down.

I used to love to go into the dollar tree in reedley ca. I went in there the other day and found the most rudest management staff ever. The are all new and most of the employees are too. Wonder what happened to all the friendly asst. managers and employees. I never seen a store so dirty and smells too. Then i finally figured out that the smell was coming from one of the new asst. managers she smelled so bad she looks like she has not taken a bath in weeks. Were is the dress code at dollar tree. I am not the only one talking about what happened to that store its all over the town. Dollar Tree was once a store to be pride of in our town. Now its an embarrassment to our town. I know we have lots of thrift stores in this town so many we have another one called dollar tree thrift store

I used to love the Reedley Store than they fired the two best asst. manager they worked so hard. They said they need room for the manager friends let me tell you i worked at Kmart and one of the new asst. manger she stole from that store and was put in jail. They show bring back the two asst. managers they fired. Look at the store it is a flirthy mess makes me sick to go in there and so many tell me they are not going in there again. Unfriendly management and dirty store. This is what dollar tree wants while i guess they do not want customers too. Only way we will go back to shopping there it bring back they two asst. manager that were so friendly and clean up that dirty store. I know Reedley has lots of thrift store i guess they just got another one too Dollar tree thrift store

Applying for a position at dollar tree

I have to agree with the many employees who have written on this site and on face book, about their co-workers are. Now, I would think that the asst mgr or even the store mgr, would be addressing these issues very pro-actively, as there are many many people who are out there looking for work.
I applied at dollar tree as a assistant store manager, and spoke with the dist mgr but said I would be glad to start at any level as my work would give me options as I proved myself, she seemed very pleased with my experience, and our 2 hour interview, I then was interviewed by a recruiter for DT at their corporate office and went on to the new Regional Dist Mgr who barely took the time to talk with me. the only question she asked me was do you think you can do the job???? with my history in retail did she even see my application? Well after 3 weeks and one phone call into the corporate offices, I received a very cold three line email saying, we have chose another candidate for the position. Great! So dollar tree wants to change their image a little for a low cost store, and I know they have a great future but only if they have some employees, who care, and stores that are well kept up, made shop-able with good eye appeal for the shopper, even if it is the bargin lower end clientelehttp://us.mc1802.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome?.partner=sbc&.gx=0&.tm=1273945942&.rand=9oldtpm4khgfe If the top management is any indication of how they communicate down-ward I would suspect that dollar tree will miss out on
a lot of repeat business, Come on you guys look at who you are hiring and for what position. Give people the proper training, after all for the small amount you pay which is not a bad thing you need to teach
My resume is still on monster and in your electronic based file, when you find you need someone whom can pull in sales, develop a team, and strong work force, by working smarter not harder, and doing more with less- let me know.

Poor hiring practices

Well I wanted to work for dollar tree and after three applications they called me in for a interview. The new dist manager interviewed me for 2 hours, and then said she was forwarding it to the corp offices, i got a phone interview from the recruiter who then forwarded it to the regional dist manager who did not even have the time nor the desire to talk to anyone that day, and just blew me off. She did say they would call me back. Well after 3 weeks they emailed me to say the position was filled, Go figure!! And that was only after I called the hiring store and also the hiring requiter only able to leave a message asking if they had made a decision.
