I am not at all worried about any layoff because I have my technical work and there are not many layoffs happening in my department. I did hear a round of layoff occurred a month back or so but it didn't take any job out of our facility.

Good god, here is another company that can do with some strategic help. Inept planning, weak leaders and bad business scenario in US, these are recipes for trouble, and when things go bad, fire people en masse, so that partners keep whatever money remains. Interestingly these 'mass layoffs' are due to sudden performance issues? Perhaps,it is so called to save the company from bad press and legal hassles. Entire offices have been shut down in US. God save the people!

Job description is misleading and you may suddenly have an extraordinary amount of responsibility added without additional compensation. There has been a marked decrease in the quality of middle management and career development has been the last priority. There seems to be an overall lack of strategy in many areas; decision making is often not quick and clear. Google has also been making many layoffs due to current recession.

This company likes to think of itself as do no evil or at least says so --- why then are they doing layoffs in small numbers at a time to look like there are no layoffs?

Looks like the company is going to give the people on layoff list a chance to look for other jobs internally - feeling a little relieved - I have had great perf review and ws just stuck in the bad radio area ..
