underpaid,and overworked

When Jeld Wen took over the Norco factory in 1996 I was getting
$11 a hour. Here it is 2009 and the pay is worse. When I got shitcanned I was only making $12 a hour. In over 10 years my pay only went up $1.Gas was only $1.50,now it's $2.75.Health insurance preniums have also skyrocketed.Even with Jeld Wen becoming much more efficient in getting the product out they are very tight fisted with getting the employees a decent pay raise.I think it has something to do with upper management's golf touramnet entitlements.Over the past year Jeld Wen has had many price increases on their poor quality windows and doors, while at the same time commidity prices have declined like wood, oil, and aluminum. This just shows you how greedy Jeld Wen is.The American worker for the past 3 decades has been struggling with stagnant wages. You can barely get by on 2 incomes now.All this greed is starting to backfire on the greedy fat cats. Many Jeld Wen employees are so poor they can't afford the very poor quality product they make. There is only too much Chinese junk to buy. This trade imbalance is starting to catch up to us.Unemployment is going to get worse.Forclosures are going to get much worse, increasing the housing inventory. The homebuilders are barley be out of their long coma. There is no incentive to build with so many good forclosure deals.I bet the Hawkins Jeld Wen plant will close it's doors.Maybe ,a good qaulity company like Anderson will take over.If I were them I would get rid some of the poorly qualified management, and the suckasses with low senority.

stress&drinking

I woke up sunday morning with a massive hangover.I just binged all night drinking a half a bottle of vodca. This is starting to become pretty common every weekend. The stress at Jeld Wen is getting to me.I feel like I'm under a microscope and management are looking for reasons to write up employees and fire them.I wish I could find a different job.

Jeld Wen was not at all a bad place to work by factory standards. Safety was taken seriously. Management could be a little unreasonable. The employees always knew where they were and what needed to be done as far as orders and even when it came to running out of work. It was our job to keep track. Management didn't always do it's job and rarely knew what had been done and what hadn't. The pay was decent, but when it came to 401k...I found jeld wen lacking. They never contributed to 401k like they said they would. Every penny in my 401k was put there by me and none other. It sounded good on paper, if they'd contributed like promised. After the layoff, and due to the fact that it's nearly impossible to find another job at the moment, I have to withdraw from my measley 401k just to get by.

Kolbe&Kolbe is just as crooked as Jeld Wen

Kolbe&Kolbe windows and doors just had a temporary layoff of 334 people.Did'nt they say that with the Hawkins Jeld Wen employees.I think these workers are terminated just like the Hawkins Jeld Wen employees.Eventually when we go into a depression the Hawkins plant will become a deserted building. It may get a spot on the life after people documentary on the history channel, just like the Husdon
automotive plant did in Detroit.
