This firm's atmosphere is much better than others that I've worked for. They show employee appreciation by providing Friday breakfasts, "employee of the quarter," flowers on a staff members yearly anniversary with the firm, and shout-outs on the company's internal message board. I wasn't at the old building, but this one in downtown Durham is an amazing building and location (right between the DPAC and the DBAP). They have good benefits (health, wellness, on-site lunch deliveries, on-site dry cleaning delivery!etc.). I feel accomplished at the end of each day because my team members let me know that I did a good job.

This firm is a terrible place to work. Personal calls and emails are strictly monitored. Work atmosphere is very unprofessional. JSF himself has NEVER even trial a real case and gambles with his daddy's money. Very few people have respect for him in the firm. I hate this place.

JSF New Hire..

I've just been with JSF for about 6 months now and I have really enjoyed it. They take pride in acknowledging successes while also being open to help correct any failures. I did not join the firm with a law background and really had no idea what to expect. Everyone has been great to work with and I've enjoyed watching the successes pour in. In just half a year it's easy for me to see why the firm is so successful, they work hard and play hard. Living life to the fullest is what it's all about! I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

JSF was a decent place to work about as much as a Plaintiff firm could be. They did like to have control over everything which was good and bad. Everyone was controlled by fear so everyone pulled their weight or they would be shown the door. I left JSF for a better paying position and I'm sad to see them having such trouble now. There was always your typical water cooler talk and dissent among certain groups but it never spilled out into the public. Of course, this was before websites like telonu.

I can't believe this person is still flapping their pie hole about how horrible the firm is..Give it a rest!!
My first thought is I WISH someone would hurry up and hire you too..it sounds like you are not getting any takers..maybe it's you that sucks at everything and cannot find another job. You know you cannot ever get the first impression back that you make on someone, guess yours is always poor if you still work at the firm. It really must be tuff being you.
I hope you are not someone that claims to be my friend because that would end and I would be ashamed to say I knew you.
I have been with the firm almost three years and hope to continue here for several more.
One very small part of me feels sorry for you. You really must me a misserable person with your life. I suggest you have a Coke and a smile and shut Up!!!
Grow up and get a life!!!

The Price of a Rewarding Job

I've worked in North Carolina personal injury law firms for 8 years both in Eastern North Carolina and the Triangle area. I've worked in both large firms and small ones, and The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin is by far the happiest position I've had. There are talented and friendly staff and attorneys who make it a joy to come to the office everyday. I'm supervised by an attorney I respect and admire. He sets an example I find myself following beyond just the office. There is a sense of camaraderie and concern among the employees at the firm. If something were to happen to me or my family, I know the firm would be there to help. I see the same concern among staff for clients. We never take an attorney fee higher than what a client receives, even when we've invested a lot of work in a case. When our clients experience deaths or serious family illness, we send them flowers. It's really in the little things that the atmosphere of the firm is most visible. I have never been told no when I've asked for the firm to pay for an employee lunch or other bonus. There is stress. The adversarial nature of the law makes what we do stressful. Often times we are all that stands between a client and financial ruin. Insurance companies pay less and less for claims, and we have to fight harder and harder for our clients who are injured. I find myself worrying about clients at home. I hear the same from co-workers. We all take home the stress of being on the side of the little guy against big business and insurance. Our families say the same thing. We're overly invested. It's not easy and not many people understand what we do and how hard it is. It's even harder when our clients speak only Spanish. Insurance companies think they can take advantage of them and they push hard on us. We work twice as hard to get those clients fair settlements. But at the end of the day, I wouldn't work for the other side. The difference I make in people's lives is worth it.

I have been in the legal profession over 20 years and worked at several large law firms and James Scott Farrin is the best law office I have ever seen - for employees and clients. The firm actually strives hard to treat its employees well and give them opportunites for personal growth, as well as professional advancement. The technology used is first rate. The CEOs blog and the firm's policies regarding firm information lead it to be a firm that provide's the most current, accurate and full information to employees of any firm I have ever seen. This is an excellent place to work and our upcoming move is exciting! We need productive, service-oriented, caring co-employees here because it takes that to meet our commitment to our clients!

Having worked in the customer service field in other industries, I can say that recorded calls is all part and parcel of being quality driven. I can only surmise from the comments of the person who wrote the original attack, that this is their first real job. All of the points of contention from "anonymous" are simply wrong. Although I haven't been here long enough to experience a raise or bonus, I certainly don't fear mediocrity in that regard, I know the job I'm doing, and am confident that I'll be happy with what I earn. Again, having worked in several fields, including other law firms, none of what the complainant says really applies here.

I have been with The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin for about a year now, and I can honestly say I have never felt so appreciated, or cared about by a previous employer. JSF is a great place to not only make friends, and always have someone there to help you out, but it always feels so good to know that you are helping your community in several different ways. JSF is like a BIG family everyone is always there to help if you ever need it in any way; all the way to the charities that we contribute to. They are very flexible with the work schedule, because come on who doesn't have life throw things your way that you weren't expecting. I can say from my own opinion also it is nice to know that they care. I have a family member that has been sick numerous times, and they are always asking how he is doing, and sending flowers to let him know as well that he is being thought about. There is also such a wonderful opportunity to grow in your career. If you do a good job and show that you are dedicated to what you do JSF is always going to look out for you! From my experience with JSF I would just like to say I love it here! :)
