Yahoo! Toolbar for IE - piece of crap

Yahoo! Toolbar for IE is probably the most annoying piece of software I have experienced in recent times. Everytime I open a site, it gives this annoying pop-up that I am opening a web page and asking me if that shoudl be allowed. The annoying part is that it asks the question multiple times; does not respect the 'don't ask me again' checkbox.

I disabled it. Next time I opened IE, it was on again!!!

Can someone @ Yahoo! please look into this?

It is not fascinating at all to work for such a giant!

It is not fascinating at all to work for such a giant. It is just like being at the Atlantic ocean, not in thousand lives you would be able to know the employees of even your department. The turnover ratio is also one of the reasons. And believe me that it is the last thing I want to bear in my life.

A strong company in Market

I work as Staff Engineer. I joined it 2 years back and was hired into a Staff Engineering position. And I have survived the recent layoffs. Yahoo is a good company with strong customer focus. Work Life balance, frequent feedback on performance from management, on-site gym, new facilities, awesome food in the cafeteria etc. I also like the collaborative environment and usually look forward to going to work every day.

Am I next?

Wall Street seems to cheer the fact that the company announced 5% job cuts. It is not a fun time to be employed at yahoo! I am as concerned as the guy next to me.

Meet our new CEO ?(*&*%

Carol Bartz, our new CEO, says her gut feeling is that we should not sell our search business. I think Google will continue to slice our pie and eat Microsoft's lunch. The difference is Microsoft has more lunch money, and we don't.
The whole world thinks we should be combining our Search business with Microsoft. It is time someone tell this to our new CEO.

Ok it's come and hopefully gone -- but yahoo has probably done the layoff thing better than many other companies.

What we have been told is that -- Yahoo's 1,520 pink-slipped employees will remain on the payroll through February 13, this way we will continue to vest and hopefully the market will come back so we are no longer underwater.

This is the best part -- For those folks who have not landed a job by February 13--which in this recessionary climate may be many--nor bad-mouthed the company, (hey, I am good mouthing the compnay so will I get more of a lump sum payment of two, three, or even four more months of severance -- as the plan seems to be.

BTW, for folks who have worked for 5 years will get another month of payment. Yahoo has at least thought through this.

Have you noticed that the Yahoo employees that came in via an acquisition seem to be more vulnerable in the recent layoffs?

I was thinking the same thing -- I guess once your initial contrcat is up, Yahoo does not have loyalty to you.

Yahoo mail is the best mail ever!

While I use all three (HM, Y! & G), I love the new Hotmail UI. The clean interface is just awesome. Windows Live folks have done a great job integrating social networking experience into Mail & Contacts. Hotmail's spam protection is now the best.

I like it too - have used it since I moved over from AL 5 years ago. Tested out Google -- but Yahoo is far better.
